OPL's JanAushadhi Kendra is a digital lending platform designed to fund JanAushadhi Kendra's (JAK) and support the government's goal of 25,000 Kendras providing affordable medicines and promoting health. It allows existing and new JAK stores to access short-term working capital and long-term loans under the Mudra Yojana.
The creation of the PMBJP Scheme aimed to provide generic medication at a reasonable price to everyone. As on March 2024, there were over 10,000 JanAushadhi Kendra's in India. To facilitate smooth functioning of JanAushadhi Kendra's, automating the system to monitor all parties involved was necessary. JanAushadhi Kendra Digital Financing Solution is an initiative to unbundle lending for Kendra's and is being created to showcase the power of the above idea. In its simplest form, it would be a loan marketplace that enables JAK Stores to compare loan offers from multiple lenders and choose the best one. In its more advanced version, JAK would be akin to a borrower’s financial advisor, looking after their interests, fetching the best offers, and advising the customer to make good decisions.
With the OPL infrastructure, all the JAK are connected to a single IT (Information Technology) enabled system (SAP) to ensure monitoring at every step in the process i.e., from placing the order of medicines to manufacturers till the supply of drugs reaches the Store’s doorstep.
The JanAushadhi Kendra Financing is in line with the Open Credit Enablement Network (OCEN) specifications. OPL integrations in place with most Account Aggregators would enable fetching of bank statements digitally.
